How does an Email server works with a web hosting server?
Email web hosting is the major web hosting service used for sending and receiving an email through a web hosting server. The servers are web host computers which offer safe and protected services to the consumers. The email web host server use two types of protocols for sending information and they include
• Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server
• Post Office Protocol (POP3) or Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) server
SMTP server: Protocol is nothing but an algorithm or procedure for particular task. The server has different ports to perform various tasks. The server program takes care of sending mail from the web host server. When you login to your mail account by using any site, then it communicates with SMTP server of your mail site. After getting mail to this server, it separates user name and site name. If the site name is similar to the mail site then it forwards the mail to POP3 protocol, it handles the incoming mail. If the two names are from different sites then it contacts with Domain name Server (DNS) and ask for IP address of the incoming mail.
POP3 or IMAP server: The server gets mail through port 110, it gets your request after you log in to the mail account and maintains detailer text file of its register account in the host server. The only disadvantage of this server is that, once you download your incoming mails from mail, it does not have Xerox of the mails. IMAP is the server used to overcome the disadvantage of POP3 server.
